In line with the internationalization vision, Department of Industrial Engineering (TI), Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT-UB) starts a cooperation with renowned universities from abroad. One of them is with National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Taiwan.
Professor of university which located in East District, Tainan, Taiwan paid a visit to TI FT-UB on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. The NCKU delegation was represented by Prof. I-Lin Wang, Prof. Chung-Chi Hsieh, and Prof. Pete H.C. Wang. The three of them are from the Department of Industrial and Information Management NCKU.
The visit was welcomed by the Secretary of the Department Arif Rahman, ST., MT., Head of the Laboratory of Manufacturing Systems and Chairman of the scientific journal Journal of Engineering and Management in Industrial System, Oyong Novareza ST., MT., Ph.D, Head of the Laboratory of Work Design & Ergonomics Sugiono, ST., MT., Ph.D, and Head of the Laboratory of Industrial Management Studio Agustina Eunike, ST., MT., MBA.
NCKU delegation also welcomed by representatives of lecturers including Ir. Purnomo Budi Santoso, M.Sc., Ph, D, Dewi Hardiningtyas, ST., MT., MBA, Remba Yanuar Efranto, ST., MT. and Suluh Elman Swara, ST., MT.
This opportunity is not wasted by about 70 lecturers and students to know more about logistic.
In his presentation, the alumni of Georgia Institute of Technology United States is delivering two topics at once; Optimization Problems in Bike Systems & Network Sharing Optimal Restoration, and Restoration Arc schedules with Resource Constraints for Recovering Nodes in a Network of Damaged Arcs.
“Research on disaster management is very important. Given the growing number of earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, mudflow are happening around us,” said this expert in the field of operations research and optimization of the industry.
In addition to guest lectures, NCKU representatives also explained about further study programs for Industrial Engineering for UB’s academic society. Representative NCKU Prof. Jerry Chung-Chi Hsieh said, NCKU also open an opportunity for scholarship program.

This discussion is intended to open up opportunities for more cooperation between the two institutions in the future. This cooperation includes joint research, scientific journals, and participation in international conferences which will be held next year.
“NCKU welcomed many possibilities of this partnership, but there are some things that still need to be discussed more detail in the future,” said Arif Rahman.
