TIUB (7)At the beginning of the Even Semester Academic Year 2018/2019, the Industrial Engineering Department of Universitas Brawijaya (TI-UB) held an audience with student’ parents/guardians on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the TI-UB 6th floor Auditorium.

TI-UB held two activities at once. The first session was Academic Course Socialization to all parents/guardians of 2018 class students. Then the session continued with Study Evaluation for 63 students and parents/guardians of the 2012-2017 class.

Also present on this occasion were Faculty of Engineering’ Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, Ishardita Pambudi Tama Ph.D., Head of TI-UB Department Oyong Novareza Ph.D., Secretary of TI-UB Department Rahmi Yuniarti MT., and Head of the Quality Assurance Unit (UJM) Nasir Widha Setyanto MT.

TIUB (3)Also present in that afternoon meeting were all Head of the Laboratory, Head of the Functional Group, lecturers, staff, and administrators of the TI-UB Student Association.

Ishardita Ph.D. in his opening remarks expressed his appreciation toward achievements received by the students in one of the favorite majors at the Faculty of Engineering, TI-UB.

TIUB (4)“The student that accepted in 2018 had already beaten 30 other prospective students. We understand that their education will be our priority, but of course, we also need your greatest participation to make sure their education process run smoothly,” he hoped.

Ishardita and parent’ also highlights the rise of online gaming and gambling among youngsters which will absolutely threaten their future. Of course, this must be avoided and  parent’ supervision also highly required, even more, those whose parent lives far from Malang.

The event continued with the presentation of the Head of the TI-UB Department. Oyong Ph.D. explained about the profile of TIUB Department, achievements, facilities, opportunities for further study, scholarships, and academic evaluation systems. After the exposure, it was followed by a question and answer session with the parents.

TIUB (5)“Then we also gave the parents a password and a demo of the student’s academic information system. Why are you given a password? Based on our experience, this is for the control system, if there is a problem (in the study process) it can be solved immediately,” said Oyong.

TIUB (8)Closing the first session, TI-UB gave awards to three students in 2018 class who reach the highest GPA. They are Febrio Akbar with a GPA of 3.84, Ega Ulaya H. with a GPA of  3.84, and Benedictus Ryan A. with a GPA 3.79.

Then for the second session, TI-UB invited around 63 students of 2012-2017 class with their respective parents/guardians; 30 students of the 2012 class, 7 students in 2013, 5 students in 2014, 4 students in 2015, and 6 students in the 2017 class.

TIUB (2)Based on the academic guidebook, evaluation of the undergraduate program study is carried out at the end of the first, second, third, fourth year. The evaluation will be used to determine the continuation of the study.  In this session, the department facilitated the parents and students to discuss with their academic supervisors about the students’ obstacles.

This hearing activity attracted appreciation from parents. Khusnul Yakin the parents of Irvan Yusuf considered this activity to show that the department cared about the academic development of their students.

“Keep the spirit! In this lecture you will be educated or taught about the pattern and power of thought to face this world which will later be applied in life,” Khusnul said to encourage the students. (and/mic)
