IMG_7615Opened directly by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Arief Prajitno, MS, event of Brawijaya Mechanical Engineering Creativity (KMB) 2017 officially started on Friday (17/Nov). At this grand national scale event, hundreds of outstanding students from all over Indonesia are present to show their innovation. Through Brawijaya Copter Competition (BCC) and Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI), participants are required to contribute brilliant ideas for the progress of the nation.

In his speech, Prof. Arief Stated his support for this kind of student activity. “UB as an International Entrepreneurial University is very supportive to events that can foster student creativity to create new innovation. From this kind of event, the young entrepreneurs who successfully open the field of business from innovation might be born,” he said.

After the Opening Ceremony, participants are then divided into 2 different venues. The participants of BCC stay at UB Sport Center Arena, while LKTI Participants go to the Mechanical Engineering Department Meeting Room, the competition is held in parallel. For the BCC itself is divided into 2 days, Friday and Saturday (17-18/Nov) for the preliminary round and final. As for LKTI it held continuously from the presentation to the Final.

IMG_7605Carrying the theme of “Think Creatively for Better Society”, the selection of proposals and specifications of LKTI itself has been implemented since last August. Participants are welcome to send their brilliant idea to the committee to be selected. Of the hundreds of proposals that enter only the top 10 are selected to compete directly on UB campus for the final round.

KMB itself is an annualĀ  activity that has been held since 2000. This year is the largest KMB held in the past 17 years.

“This year KMB presents three big events. We invite participants all over Indonesia, open to the public, invite many guest stars, and for closing we will also held in a very strategic location,” said Chief Executive of KMB 2017 Ghani Ilham Ariestono.

Ghani also explained that the event was held to accommodate creative and competitive individuals in creating works that are useful for the progress of the nation.

IMG_7672“Broadly, we want to contribute in the development of technology in Indonesia. Through this activity we want to facilitate those who have the same mission,” he said.

Winners of BCC and LKTI competitions will be announced during Gala Dinner on November 18, 2017 at Gets Hotel Hall. The closing ceremony will be held on Sunday, 19 November 2017 in Brawijaya Edupark Malang. (mic/emis)
