The Dharma Bakti Astra Foundation (YDBA) once again held a guest lecture as well as recruitment of CARE agents (Youth Empowerment). The event which has been held for the second time in Industrial Engineering Universitas Brawijaya (TI-UB) was held at the Auditorium of the TI-UB building, Thursday, July 25, 2019.

Recruitment began with an explanation of YDBA Profile and the YDBA Care Agent Program by YDBA Head of Human Capital Department Rahmat Handoyo. Rahmat explained that Care Agent YDBA has the main task of fostering as well as raising the MSME class so that their products can compete with other large industries in quality.

“In the last 10 years, Indonesia has been invaded by imported products, not only large products such as cars but also the smallest products such as hoes. Our prices are also unable to compete with imported products. This is a challenge for us,” this alumni of the Faculty of Economics and Business UB said.

Muhammad Riyandhanu, TI-UB alumni, had the opportunity to share his experiences as a YDBA Care Agent. Dhanu told the whole process from the initial recruitment to the development of the UMKM that he managed in Tegal.

“For industrial engineering students, IKM is so familiar. We had already introduced about college, practice, until the thesis. I think IKM is a small industry, but in fact, it has many good points in many fields,” he explained.

The recruitment process begins with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) and continues with a discussion of the results of the FGD with the group. After the presentation, dozens of participants recruiting from internal and external TI-UB were required to fill in the story test.

Those who pass the selection will be included in the psychology test and interview at the YDBA Head Office.

Head of TI-UB Department Ir. Oyong Novareza, ST., MT., Ph.D. in his speech when opening the event hoped that the collaboration between YDBA and TI-UB did not stop here.

It is hoped that between the two institutions can have an MoU that can be used to develop educational curriculum or other collaborations.

“The focus of YDBA, to foster SMEs, is in line with what TI-UB and UB are doing, hopefully, the cooperation will not stop here,” he said. (and)
