Develop Rental Car Security Systems, Won Awards from Thailand
Universitas Brawijaya (UB) student team who develop rental car security application systems, CRESECH (Car Rental Security Technology) Team, succeeded in bringing the Silver Medal at the Bangkok International Intellectual Property, Invention, Innovation and Technology Exposition (IPITEx) 2020 competition held in Bangkok, Thailand , 2-6 February 2020.
The IPITEx innovation competition organized by the National Research Council of Thailand was attended by more than 100 innovators from dozens of countries in the world such as Britain, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and others.
The CRESECH team consists of Lailatul Fajriyati Farah Hasibah (Industrial Engineering), Fairus Azizah Herlambang (Industrial Engineering), Wahono Ridhoning Gusti (Information System Vocational Program), Riko Saputra Linhatama (Information Technology Vocational Program), Maulana Derifato Achmad (Information Technology Vocational Program), and lecturer supervisor Ihwan Hamdala, ST., MT. (Industrial Engineering).
CRESECH (Car Rent Security Technology) is a car rental security technology that integrates GPS and IoT-based ultrasonic sensors. Innovations that can monitor the location and condition of rental cars.
“CRESECH can detect any collisions during the rental period and will warn the borrower when the loan deadline has ended,” explained the CRESECH Team leader, Lailatul.
However, Lailatul continued, if there is no response or refund within 1×24 hours after the rental period ends, then this system will send the location data of the car to the rental owner and automatically forwarded to the nearest police station.
CRESECH system will stop the flow of electricity in the car engine in parking conditions so that the car can’t be restarted. When the car stops, the police will find it easier, to find and secure the car that is suspected to be stolen.
“If the security system is removed from the car, it will immediately turn off the car’s electrical system and send warning messages to the borrowers and car owners,” added this 2018 class student.
Hopefully, the integration of the security system can increase the trust between the renters and the car rental and facilitate monitoring of rented cars.
Representing the team, Lailatul claimed to be grateful and proud of this achievement. The team can take benefit and learn about teamwork, manage relationships in the international arena, and the ability to speak or present in English.
“This event is enough to open our horizons about various things, especially the so many extraordinary innovations from various countries that can increase our knowledge as students,” she added.
Going forward, the team is still fixing the use of the website for multi-users. Not only used by one user, that is car rental owner, it is expected that in the future consumers can directly hold the application and can search for the nearest car rental. (and)
