Electrical Engineering Hold a Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP) Talks – IEEE Circuits and System (CAS) Society Indonesia Chapter
Wrapped as Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP) Talks, Electrical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) invited Prof. Dr. Chua Chin Wang from National Sun Yat-Sen University, Taiwan, to give a guest lecture on February 5th, 2020.
He gave an enlightening and insightful speeches at distinguished lecturer activities and to host IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) activities. Held in 1.6 classroom, this guest lecture raised two topics, entitled Nano-scale CMOS Mixed-voltage Digital I/O (input/output) Buffer Design Methodology and Development of AI SOC for Underwater Vehicles.
Prof. Dr. Chua Chin Wang explained several things related to reliability issues caused by I/O compatibility among chips fabricated using different processes. In addition, he also explained the body effects, leakage, hot-carrier degradation, and gate-oxide overstress in stacked transistors of mixed-voltage I/O. All of these issues are analyzed to meet the latest I/O interfacing protocol requirements.
Moreover, he also explained about development project of an under-water AUV (autonomous unmanned vehicle) with artificial intelligence (AI) based on marine technology currently available in NSYSU (National Sun Yat-Sen University), Taiwan.
The developed AUV with AI will be able to carry out many missions, including under-water inspection, seabed exploration, and perhaps specific object tracking.
This time, the distinguished lecturer program was attended by around 100 participants including lecturers, undergraduates students who concern on Electronics and Nanoelectromechanical systems, and master students.
IEEE Student Branch representatives from National Technology Institut (ITN) of Malang and Merdeka University of Malang also invited to attend this program.
Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Ir Hadi Suyono ST MT PhD IPM in his opening remarks revealed that this activity is expected to build a good academic atmosphere at the department level, provide good relations for inter-regional/international level, and of course broaden the university cooperation. Moreover Prof. Wang has so many publications here and there, so it can increase insight, reference, and inspiration for students.
“This is a brilliant opportunity to continue or to explore knowledge for students and academicians, of course by experience it continuously. I believe what we’ve got here will definitely be a good reference to do something better,” said Ir Hadi. (muf/mic)
