FTUB Inbound Student Orientation
In 2020, Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya became an eminent institution in the field of engineering in Asia. Apparently the Faculty of Engineering’s vision was increasingly realized.
“In my opinion, eminent mean that we are sought after by people. More institution are interested in having cooperation with FT, it shows our superiority, InshaaAllah, we will strengthen this in near future,” said Vice Dean for Academic Affairs FTUB, Ir. Ishardita Pambudi Tama, ST., MT., Ph.D early this year.
Those words were proven by the arrival of 13 inbound students from Malaysia in the even semester of 2019/2020. Ten students from Tun Hussein Onn University (UTHM); Faculty of Engineering and Manufacturing (7 people) and Electrical and Electronics Faculty (3 people), as well as three students from the Faculty of Engineering Manufacturing University of Malaysia (UTEM).
Today (28/2/2020) all thirteen students attended the Introduction to Campus Life held by the International Liaison Office (ILO) FTUB. Head of the ILO FTUB, Dr. Ir. Rini Nur Hasanah, ST., MSc, deliberately held this event to officially introduce this inbound student to the leaders of the faculty as well as to UB environment, especially FTUB.
Ir. Ishardita representing the Dean was present to welcome and open the activity this morning. The atmosphere of this morning’s meeting was very joyful and the introduction went smooth and warmly.
“I was very happy that we could all meet officially this morning, I only know three of the students who took my class. It seems you have all have a sneak peak of Malang. Of course we want you to enjoy your study here, and we also want to strengthen cooperation between UB and UTHM-UTEM,” he said.
This inbound student was accompanied by several FTUB students from each department; Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering. Together with their assistants, they already knew a little bit about life in Malang.
Even so Dr.Eng Zefri Darmawan ST., MT also explained in more detail about UB, the academic system in UB, the campus life in FTUB, to the things that need to be known in the campus environment in Malang (boarding, living cost, and transportation).
“Who knows, one of you will continue your study here at UB, for master and doctoral,” said this lecturer in Industrial Engineering.
This is reasonable considering that these students are on average 24 years old and only a little bit more to finish their study. And considering that by studying in UB, they can learn more about any study program that they want to take if they continue their studies here.
“We are mostly from the Diploma and are currently continuing to pursue a Bachelor degree, who knows we can find a suitable subject and can continue further education here,” said one of the inbound students, Fatina.
Also attending the meeting this morning, the Vice Dean for General and Financial Affairs
Dr. Ir. Muhammad Ruslin Anwar, M.Si, Vice Dean for Student Affairs Dr.Eng. Ir. Denny Widhiyanuriyawan, ST., MT, Head & Secretary of the Department in the FTUB environment, Head of Administration Affair Endang Susiloningsih, S.Sos, M.AB., and representative of ILO. (mic)
