Peresmian Lab Ngijo

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB), Prof. Dr. Ir. Pitojo Tri Juwono, M.T., IPU., inaugurated the Water Resources Engineering (WRE) Department’s Integrated Water Resources Management Laboratory on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 in Kepuharjo Village, Ngijo, Karangploso, Malang Regency.

The inauguration was attended by Faculty Leaders, Department Leaders, PUPR Ministry ranks; in this case the Solo River Basin Center (BBWS), Partners, Alumni and Students, and of course it was held with strict Health Protocol standards

In his speech, Prof. Pitojo congratulated and hoped that professional and good laboratory management could provide benefits in various scientific fields for all parties.

“On behalf of the faculty leader, I would like to congratulate the operation of the 7th Laboratory of the Water Resources Engineering Department. This laboratory is entrusted to us from the community through students, so it must be managed properly,” he stressed.

He continued, the prospects and benefits of the laboratory must reach students, lecturers, and stakeholders. In the future, it is also hoped that it will be more complete by participating in laboratory accreditation by competent institutions.

The Dean also added the importance of supporting Presidential Regulation No. 56/2018 about the importance of a Laboratory. Laboratory must be the spearhead for national water security since the need for raw water until 2024 is still increasing.

He said that the government has 51 National Strategic Projects (PSN) for dam construction throughout Indonesia. The 8 completed dams, 37 dams are still under construction, and 6 dams will be launched in the 2020-2024 strategic plan. In addition, there are 16 non-PSN dams.

“We must support government policy by making our lab, the Integrated Natural Resources Management Laboratory, the spearhead, of course with the best and certified branding and facilities,” this Professor and Lecturer at the Water Resources Engineering Department concluded.

On another occasion Dr. Ir. Ussy Andawayanti, M.S., expressed her gratitude to University and Faculty Leaders, BBWS Solo, partner institutions, and Alumni for the support given for the benefit of education at FTUB.

“As the Head of the Department I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all parties. Hopefully with this inauguration the teaching and learning process in WRE will be more complete with the integration of lecturers, and students, especially in supporting the independent campus policy program,” said this Head of the WRE Department.

After the inauguration, the Dean and his entourage reviewed the supporting infrastructure, the opening of the Operational Gate Valve, and Laboratory Trials, as well as reviewing the Laboratory facilities. (love/mic)
