Celebrating Eid Al-Fitr 1442 H, the Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) Family held an online Halal Bi Halal, on Wednesday, May 19, 2021.

Joined by hundreds of participants from lecturers, students, staff, alumni, to retirees, this virtual activity was carried out through Zoom media and broadcasted live on YouTube Channel 123 Teknik and Instagram @ftub_official.

“We are now still living in the new normal era. Let’s define it as us as a new person as well. A person who always draws closer to God, who carries out duties as well as possible, and a person who cares for eachother,” said the Dean, Prof. Dr. Ir. Pitojo Tri Juwono, M.T., IPU., ASEAN.Eng., in his remarks.

On the same occasion, this Water Resources Expert also said that soon there would be a change of leadership in the Faculty of Engineering. As Dean who has served for two terms, he expressed his appreciation to all those who have supported during his leadership era.

“Thanks a lot for your support and good cooperation so far. Of course there are many mistakes that have been made, I hope it can be a lessson and please forgive me for all those mistakes i’ve done,” he concluded.

The activity then was continued with the Eid sermon given by Dr. dr. Arief Alamsyah, MARS. He explained about the nature of forgiveness.

Dr. Arief explained that according to the journal he read, when forgiving, the body will be flooded with happy hormones, one of which is serotonin, this hormone will make our body healthier.

According to psychology, he continued, there are five roots of emotional wounds. First, they are rejection, abandonment, humiliation, betrayal, and injustice. One of the most effective wound therapies is forgiveness.

“So forgiving is not for others, but for ourselves. There is a difference between understanding and forgiving. Forgiivng means we will not remember past mistakes. If we forgive, then we can be healthier,” he said.

He also said that according to The Longest Study on Happiness by Robert Waldinger, the main determinant that affects health and happiness is good relationships.

On the other hand, toxic relationship, made a person phisically sick and wont be able to play a maximum role in their social life.

“I believe FTUB academics have a good relationship. So that of course we can always give maximum performance in work and social life,” he concluded.

During this activity, representatives of the elders and FTUB  components were also conveyed the Eid greetings.
