FTUB Adds New Professor in Urban Infrastructure

Today, Wednesday, August 25, 2021, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) has added another Professor in UB’s Urban and Regional Planning Department in the Field of Urban Infrastructure.

He is Prof. Dr. Ir. Budi Sugiarto Waloeya, MSP. He is the 16th professor in FT, being the 196th active professor at UB and the 283rd of all professors at UB.

In his presentation before the senate, Prof. Budi delivered an oration on “Measuring the Level of Road Service using the Interaction Approach of the Land Use-Road Network Model”.

According to Prof. Budi, this model can be used to determine the level of development of land use that is already at the limit and must be controlled because it causes poor road services.

The use of this road is very massive in urban areas. Unfortunately, the increase in infrastructure, including roads, is not proportional to the population growth, causing problems.

The level of poor road service should be the starting point for local governments to take policies to control the use of spatial planning by restricting the development of Trade and Service Zones.

Meanwhile, the Industrial Estate Development Zone, especially on the road corridor, experiences poor service levels or frequent traffic jams.

“Hopefully this model, of course, synergized with other models can help the government in realizing a sustainable transportation system,” he hoped. (humasft)
