Civil Engineering Wins Big at the 2024 Asia Bridge Competition

Sipil Juara ABC 2024The Asia Bridge Competition is a prestigious annual event aimed at encouraging innovation and the development of bridge structure designs in the Asian region. This year, the event was held at Cantho University, Vietnam, with the participation of 21 teams from 18 universities across Asia, taking place from August 27 to 29, 2024.

In this competition, the Civil Engineering Department of FTUB fielded one team, Team Regatro, consisting of M. Rizky Reza (S’21), Dehan Raka A. (S’21), M. Naufal Fakhria Daffa (S’21), and Agriva Amelia Sinaga (S’21).

Under the guidance of Dr. Eng. Ir. Indradi Wijatmiko, ST., M.Eng. (Prac) and Ir. Ari Wibowo, ST., MT., Ph.D., Team Regatro skillfully assembled the Manunggal Bridge in just 8 minutes and 3 seconds. This made them the third-fastest team among the participating universities.

Sipil Juara ABC 2024With this record, at the 2024 ABC, FTUB’s Civil Engineering Team Regatro managed to win 5 awards: 5th Place in the Presentation Award, 3rd Place in the Construction Cost Award, 2nd Place in the Structural Cost Award, 2nd Place in the Total Cost Award, and 2nd Place in the Overall Award.

Rizky Reza, the Team Leader, stated that this event provided many valuable lessons, especially how teamwork is crucial for achieving success.

“In a competition, it’s not just about winning; it’s also about forming friendships, particularly with international contestants. However, we must always prepare ourselves and maintain team cohesion because to be the champion, we need to be the most prepared and the most united,” Reza concluded. (mic)
