DWP FT UB Enhances Public Speaking and Basic Etiquette
On September 6, 2024, the Dharma Wanita Persatuan of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (DWP FT UB), held a seminar titled “Unleashing Personal Potential through Public Speaking and Basic Etiquette Skills.”
The seminar, which took place in the Prof. Ir. Suryono Auditorium, featured Lusy Deasyana R.D., S.AB., M.AB. as the speaker. The event aimed to provide insights on public speaking, etiquette, and effective communication in social and professional settings.
The first speech was delivered by the Chairwoman of DWP FT UB, Peny Setyowati Hadi Suyono. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of improving communication skills for DWP members as part of personal development and leadership growth.
This was followed by a speech from the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr.Eng. Ir. Indradi Wijatmiko, ST, M.Eng (Prac), who fully supported this event as a positive step towards enhancing the soft skills of Dharma Wanita FTUB members.
“Being a housewife is not an excuse for not developing your potential. In fact, at home, your potential can help you manage your household better,” he noted.
The main session was presented by Lusy Deasyana, who delivered material on public speaking and basic etiquette. As a lecturer and model, she emphasized the importance of good communication in enhancing leadership potential. Special tips were also provided for administrative staff in student services, including how to communicate with superiors, colleagues, and guests. Additionally, the speaker offered advice on appearance, including appropriate colors and accessories to create a professional impression.
“Working in public services requires us to know about excellent service,” she remarked.
After the presentation, a Q&A session was opened for participants who wished to ask questions. Two active participants received special prizes as a form of appreciation for their involvement. The session was filled with interactive and informative discussions, further enriching the participants’ understanding of the topics covered.
