FTUB Mechanical Engineering DOKAR Team Establishes International Collaboration in Malaysia
The Dosen Berkarya (DOKAR) team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB), conducted a working visit to Malaysia on September 3-6, 2024. The team comprised five distinguished academics; Prof. Dr. Ir. Femiana Gapsari M. F. ST., MT., Dr. Putu Hadi Setyarini, Dr.techn. Khairul Anam, Abdul Mudjib Sulaiman, S.T., and the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Ir. Purnami ST., MT. Dr. Eng.
“This visit aimed to strengthen international collaborations and explore new opportunities in research and education,” said the Team leader, Prof Femi.
The team’s first destination was the Nanotechnology and Catalysis Research Center (NANOCAT) at Universiti Malaya. There, the team signed an Implementation Agreement (IA), which is the foundation for research collaboration between the two institutions. In addition, they discussed the possibility of establishing a Double Degree Master of Applied Science program with a research-based format.
The next visit was to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This visit resulted in the signing of another IA between the Mechanical Engineering Departments of FTUB and UPM, further strengthening academic ties between the two universities. This agreement is expected to pave the way for future research collaborations and academic exchanges.
Additionally, the team visited Semarak Ilmu Publishing. This visit aimed to establish an important partnership related to the organization of iCOMERA 2025 (International Conference on Mechanical Engineering Research and Application). The partnership with Semarak Ilmu ensures that articles presented at iCOMERA 2025 will be published in accredited journals by this publisher, enhancing iCOMERA’s reputation as a prestigious international scientific conference.
“Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for the support of various parties, as this visit successfully achieved several strategic goals at once. Hopefully, this visit will benefit the advancement of FTUB’s Department of Mechanical Engineering on an international scale,” said Prof. Femi.
However, she added, the team emphasized that this success will not end with signed agreements alone. They are committed to ensuring that all agreed collaborations will be implemented effectively. (mic)
