As part of the 2024 National Transportation Day (Harhubnas) commemoration, the Malang City Government, through its Department of Transportation, held a talk show themed Advanced Transportation, New Nusantara” on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

The event, conducted during Car Free Day, featured Ir. Achmad Wicaksono, M.Eng., Ph.D., IPU., a lecturer from the Civil Engineering Department at Universitas Brawijaya’s Faculty of Engineering (FTUB), as the main speaker. One of the key initiatives highlighted during the talk show was the campaign “Choosing to Bike” (Memilih Bersepeda Program, red.).

During the session, Ir. Achmad Wicaksono, fondly known as Pak Soni, expressed his appreciation for the Malang City Government’s achievement in receiving the 2024 Wahana Tata Nugraha (WTN) award. He emphasized that the prize was a tangible result of collaborative efforts through the Traffic Forum.

“This award reflects Malang City’s commitment to creating sustainable transportation,” Pak Soni stated.

Pak Soni also discussed the significance of the “Choosing to Bike” program as a strategic step to encourage the community to adopt environmentally friendly transportation modes. He believes Malang City has great potential to support a cycling culture in terms of infrastructure and public awareness.

“I think this is a very suitable initiative for Malang City, as we have areas that are ideal for cycling,” he added.

The *”Choosing to Bike”* program is expected to be a solution for reducing air pollution and urban traffic congestion. This campaign aligns with the spirit of the 2024 National Transportation Day, which focuses on advancing and sustainable transportation development.

The talk show served as an educational platform and an inspiration for Malang’s residents to be more mindful of green transportation. This effort demonstrates Malang City’s ongoing commitment to implementing innovative transportation policies for a better future.
