Faculty of Engineering UB Welcomes a Visit from FPTI UPI Bandung
The Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) welcomed a working visit from the Faculty of Technical and Industrial Education of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (FPTI UPI) Bandung in the Executive Meeting Room, 3rd Floor of the FTUB Building, on Friday, October 18, 2024.
Dr. Dedy Suryadi, M.Pd., Vice Dean for Resources, Finance, and General Affairs of FPTI, explained that the purpose of the visit was to conduct a comparative study on laboratory management development at FTUB.
“This comparative study was initiated by the Association of Indonesian Educational Laboratory Managers (PPLPI) within our institution. With the broad development at our university, issues related to budgeting and human resource development in laboratories have become key points,” he explained.
FPTI UPI has conducted working visits to several universities regarding laboratory management, hoping to gain insights from the visited faculties to strengthen laboratory facilities at FPTI UPI.
“To optimize all the laboratories at FPTI UPI, we are gradually working to enhance the development of educational laboratory services, practical sessions, and general services,” he said.
During the visit, the Vice Dean for Resources, Finance, and General Affairs of FPTI was accompanied by the Head of General Administration and Resources, the Head of Student Achievement and Welfare Division, the Academic and Student Affairs Head of the Faculty of Medicine, and Educational Laboratory Technicians from FPTI and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Education (FPMIPA).
Dean of FTUB, Prof. Ir. Hadi Suyono, ST., MT., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng, explained the organizational structure and classification of laboratories within FTUB.
Some laboratories focus on academic matters, such as student practical activities, educational research, and testing services for external or general samples.
“Laboratory development is one of our priorities. In addition to routine operational funds, we also allocate a separate budget for laboratory development from the faculty each year,” said the professor of power systems engineering and artificial intelligence.
From this visit, Prof. Hadi Suyono hopes that both parties can share knowledge and adopt programs that have not yet been implemented and can be applied in both institutions.
The visit was also attended by several Vice Deans, the Head of Operations Laboratory of the Chemical Engineering Department, and several Heads of Subdivisions within FTUB.
