Universitas Brawijaya Establishes Strategic Partnership with Keio University, Japan

Universitas Brawijaya continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the quality of education through the “Brawijaya University Lecturer Works 2024” program. This program involves collaboration with top global universities as part of UB’s ongoing efforts to grow and innovate.

This time, the partnership is with Keio University, ranked 188 in the QS World University Rankings, focusing on the field of Mechanical Engineering under the Faculty of Science and Technology.

A productive three-day discussion took place from October 23-25, 2024, at Keio University’s Yagami Campus. The meeting aimed to formulate a joint curriculum and organize exchange programs involving students, faculty, and staff.

With thorough discussions on implementation details, the collaboration resulted in agreements on student exchanges, research collaborations, visiting lecturers, and professors.

During the discussions, the delegation from Keio University warmly welcomed the Brawijaya University Mechanical Engineering representatives, including Ir. Winarto, PhD, Prof. Widya Wijayanti, Prof. Mega Nur Sasongko, and Dr. Eng. Lilis Yuliati.

The Keio University team consisted of Prof. Toshiyuki Murakami (Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology), Prof. Miki Norihisa (Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering), and International Officers for Exchange Students, Prof. Ando Keita and Prof. Kenji Yasuoka.

The meeting between the two faculties and departments produced key documents, including curriculum matching documentation and a Letter of Intent between the institutions.

“This strategic collaboration is expected to enhance the integrative academic competencies of both parties,” stated Prof. Widya on behalf of the delegation.

Through this partnership, Universitas Brawijaya is expected not only to elevate its global reputation but also to enrich its academic experience and campus internationalization.

“This activity is a forward step in strengthening Universitas Brawijaya presence at the international level,” she concluded.
