The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT UB), has gained a new Professor with the inauguration of Prof. Ir. Agus Suharyanto, M.Eng., Ph.D., as a Professor in Sustainable Water Resources Engineering.

The inauguration ceremony took place on November 28, 2024, at Samantha Krida Hall, Universitas Brawijaya. The event was attended by university leaders, the academic community, as well as Prof. Agus’s family and colleagues.

In his scientific oration titled Flood Hyetograph-Hydrograph Model Based on Climate Change, Prof. Agus presented key findings on the impacts of climate change on rainfall patterns and flood dynamics.

“This model is designed to predict flood hydrographs based on rainfall hyetographs, adjusted to the latest climate change data,” he explained.

The research offers vital solutions for mitigating flood risks, particularly in disaster-prone areas. The model provides a foundation for planning water resource infrastructure that is more adaptive, efficient, and sustainable, addressing the challenges posed by global climate change.

In his speech, Prof. Agus also emphasized the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to develop a holistic water resource management system. He encouraged academics, governments, and the public to actively participate in safeguarding environmental sustainability.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya, Prof. Ir. Hadi Suyono, ST., MT., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., expressed his appreciation for Prof. Agus’s contributions to civil engineering, particularly in inspiring the younger generation to contribute to their fields of interest.

“This inauguration is not only a recognition of academic achievements but also a motivation for all of us to continue advancing science and environmental sustainability,” he stated.

Prof. Ir. Agus Suharyanto, M.Eng., Ph.D., is now the 29th active Professor at FT UB, the 211th active Professor at Universitas Brawijaya, and the 387th Professor produced by Universitas Brawijaya overall.
