This KKM is an annual tradition that is always maintained by UB engineering students. In fact, before UB officially held KKM, engineering students had already carried out community service activities.
The activity was opened by a report from the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship, Dr.Eng. Ir. Herry Santosa, S.T., M.T., IPM. He expressed his gratitude for the performance and contribution of the committee as well as IKA FT and sponsorship who had helped in this year’s KKM activities.
“This year, thank God, the number of participants who took part in KKM increased from the previous year. There were 89% of new students who will carry out this community service activity. Of the total 1185 participants, 776 were male and 409 were female,” he explained.
Before departure, the Dean of FT UB, Prof. Ir. Hadi Suyono, S.T., MT., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., APEC Eng., symbolically released the participants and gave directions at the 1st Floor of the Dean’s Building. He emphasized the importance of preparation for students to take part in activities for the next four days and maintain ethics in society.
“In addition to several projects that will be worked on later on the land, students are expected to also maintain ethics and behavior in the community in the village, by upholding the norms in the village for the smooth running of activities until completion,” explained Prof. Hadi.
Several KKM programs that will be implemented in Kucur Village include the construction of road paving to improve village infrastructure, installation of Public Street Lighting (PJU) for lighting and environmental security, and maintenance of infrastructure in tourist attractions to support regional tourism potential.
In addition, students will also build drainage to overcome sanitation problems, carry out teaching and skills training activities to improve the quality of human resources, and conduct outreach to the community regarding various important issues.
KKM XLV is a real implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in community service. Through this activity, students are expected to be able to develop soft skills, creativity, and social spirit by applying the knowledge gained in college to solve problems faced by the community. In addition, KKM is also an event to strengthen the relationship between FT UB and the surrounding community.
With the spirit of togetherness and dedication, FT UB students are ready to contribute to creating positive changes in the community. This KKM XLV activity is one of FT UB’s concrete steps in producing graduates who are not only excellent in academics, but also have high social awareness. [drn]
