Apatte62 Brawijaya Wins Again at SEM 2025 Qatar
The Apatte62 team from Universitas Brawijaya once again showed brilliant achievements at the Shell Eco Marathon (SEM) Asia 2025 held in Qatar. Shell Eco Marathon Asia is one of the largest international events that brings together teams from various countries to compete in designing and testing energy-efficient vehicles.
In this prestigious competition that tests the innovation and efficiency of energy-efficient vehicles, the team consisting of outstanding students from the Faculty of Engineering managed to take home three awards at once, namely 1st place in the Regional Championship category, 2nd place in the Urban Electric category, and 2nd place in the Place Safety Award.
In this competition, the Apatte 62 team competed in 2 categories in different classes. Apatte Elang Perkasa 1 in the Urban Battery Electric category with team number #702 and Apatte Elang Perkasa 2 in the Hydrogen Prototype category with team number #201.
The Apatte62 Brawijaya team won 1st place in the Regional Championship category, which signifies an extraordinary achievement in designing a highly efficient vehicle in the regional category. In this competition, the team from Brawijaya University demonstrated their technical capabilities and high competitiveness against other teams in Asia.
In addition, the Apatte62 team also won 2nd place in the Urban Electric category, which specifically assesses vehicles with electric power that can be used. The vehicle designed by this team was able to demonstrate excellent energy efficiency, while also showing the potential for environmentally friendly vehicles in the future. In this category, the Apatte62 team competed closely with other teams.
Not only focusing on the efficiency aspect, the Apatte62 team also showed great attention to vehicle safety. This was proven by winning 2nd place in the Place Safety Award which assesses the safety aspect of vehicles in various conditions. This award recognizes the Apatte62 vehicle design which pays close attention to safety factors, a very important element in the development of vehicle technology.
“This achievement is not only ours, but also belongs to all our supporters. “The full support from the Rector of Universitas Brawijaya and the leadership, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya, the supervisors, the Head of the Department, and the entire academic community of FT UB, especially the Department of Mechanical Engineering, is our main strength in facing this challenge. We also thank Catur Elang Energi for being our main sponsor in preparing for this competition,” said Jufri Nurraihan, Manager of the Apatte Elang Energi Team, Universitas Brawijaya.
In this SEM event, participants were challenged to create a vehicle that could travel the furthest distance with the most efficient energy consumption. This competition not only assessed the vehicle’s technological aspects, but also creativity, safety, and the team’s ability to collaborate.
With the guidance of Prof. Dr.Eng. Denny Widhiyanuriyawan, ST., MT., IPM (1) and Waru Djuriatno, ST., MT (2), the Apatte62 Brawijaya Team, consisting of students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, proved that interdisciplinary collaboration can produce proud innovations. They not only designed energy-efficient vehicles, but also focused on environmentally friendly and safe designs for their users.
This success is also proof that Brawijaya University and the Faculty of Engineering support student research and innovation in the fields of technology and the environment. In the future, the Apatte62 team plans to continue developing their vehicles and participating in similar competitions to continue improving the quality of energy-efficient vehicle technology.
Despite having achieved various achievements, the Apatte62 team admits that big challenges still await. The development of energy-efficient and environmentally friendly vehicle technology requires continuous research and development. With the results achieved at Shell Eco Marathon Asia 2025, the Apatte62 team is increasingly motivated to strengthen its competence and contribute to providing sustainable mobility solutions.
The Apatte62 Brawijaya team has proven that Indonesia is able to compete internationally in the field of environmentally friendly technology and energy-efficient vehicles. This achievement is a source of pride for the nation and a great hope for the development of future vehicle technology.
Congratulations to the Apatte62 Brawijaya team for this extraordinary achievement![drn]
