East Java Transportation Agency Collaborates with FTUB to Prepare RILLAJ Document 2025–2045
The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT UB) collaborates with the East Java Provincial Transportation Agency in preparing the 2025–2045 Traffic and Road Transportation Network Master Plan (RILLAJ) Document. This preparation activity was carried out on Thursday (3/6/2025) at the Prof. Ir. Suryono Auditorium, FTUB Dean’s Building, and became an important forum that brought together academics and local governments to formulate long-term transportation strategies in East Java.
The activity was opened with remarks from the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Student Entrepreneurship FT UB, Dr.Eng. Ar. Ir. Herry Santosa, S.T., M.T., IAI., IPM. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of this collaboration as a form of real campus contribution in supporting the development of transportation infrastructure based on data and research.
“FT UB is committed to supporting the preparation of RILLAJ that is applicable, academic, and long-term oriented,” he said.
A welcoming speech was also given by the Head of the Road Traffic Division of the East Java Provincial Transportation Agency, Farid Susanto, A.Md.LLAJ., S.Si.T., M.T., who said that the RILLAJ document will be a strategic guideline in developing transportation networks in the East Java region for the next two decades. He also appreciated the contribution of academics from FT UB who provided scientific perspectives in formulating integrated transportation policies.
From FT UB, this activity was also attended by lecturers and practitioners from the Civil Engineering Department, Ir. Achmad Wicaksono, M.Eng., Ph.D., IPU., and lecturers from the Department of Regional and City Planning, Fauzul Rizal Sutikno, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. Both provided technical presentations related to the multidisciplinary approach in developing a sustainable and inclusive transportation system.
The East Java Transportation Agency also revealed that FT UB was chosen because of its track record in transportation research and development and community service that is relevant to regional needs. FT UB is considered to have academic resources and research laboratories that support the preparation of long-term documents such as RILLAJ.
During the session, participants had in-depth discussions on urban traffic challenges, regional connectivity, and technology-based transportation system transformation. It is hoped that the results of the preparation of this document can answer the mobility needs of the community while supporting sustainable development targets in East Java Province.
This activity is also a means of collaborative learning between academics and practitioners, while encouraging FT UB’s contribution to research-based public policy. With the experience and knowledge possessed by the academic community, FT UB is believed to be able to produce reliable strategic transportation designs that have a direct impact on the community.
The RILLAJ 2025–2045 document that is currently being prepared will be an important guideline for local governments in designing, managing, and evaluating future transportation systems, as well as a foothold in facing the challenges of mobility that continue to grow.
