pk3The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) jargon resounded in the campus accompanied the opening ceremony of the Introduction to Campus Life (PK2) for New Students (Maba). Located in the front yard of FTUB main building, The Dean, Dr. Ir. Pitojo Tri Juwono, MT., raised the enthusiasm of approximately 1,389 new students from the eight majors at FT.

In the activity that will be held on August 14-15, 2019, new students were introduced more to their alma mater, Universitas Brawijaya, especially the Faculty of Engineering and their respective Departments.pk2 (3)“This PK2 activity is very important for new students, so the university requires every freshman to participate. If one can not participate this year, they must participate in the following year,” said the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Dr.Eng. Ir. Denny Widhiyanuriyawan, ST., MT.

In his report, Dr. Denny revealed that the number of FTUB students in each department are as follows: 182 of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering 176, Electrical Engineering 178, Water Engineering 176, Architecture 175, PWK 168, 200 Industrial Engineering, and Chemical Engineering 134.

pk2 (2)Dr. Pitojo in his speech invited all 862 male and 527 female students to straighten their determination to become more independent and outstanding Engineering students.

“You are carrying out the mandate of your parents to study at FTUB. Strengthen your intentions, answer from the deep of your heart that you are a qualified student and have a good work ethic, so that you can make achievements and bring pride to your parents, nation, and of course alma mater!” said the Dean in his remarks.

He also invites all students to use all the facilities provided to maximize their potential, hone their soft skills, and also the interest & talent.

pk2 (5)“Sharpen your ability to work together, communicate, and maximize your potential so that when you graduate you can become a Bachelor of Engineering who is competent, has a strong character, a good work ethic, great attitude, and religious,” he said.

On the same occasion, he implicitly hoped for a long-term big change for FTUB. One of them is the prohibition of physical and psychological violence.

pk2 (4)“The purpose of this activity is to introduce new students to adapt to campus life in both academic and non-academic aspects. So if there are reports of evidence of physical and mental violence, I will make sure that they won’t be in registered as FTUB students any longer,” he said firmly. (mic)
