tiThe Industrial Engineering Department of Universitas Brawijaya (TI-UB) held a Workshop on Interactive Learning and Teaching Methods to improve skills & knowledge of lecturers while teaching in the classroom.

The workshop was held at The 101 OJ Malang Hotel on Monday, June 17, 2019. Present as the speaker was UB lecturers who is also an expert in the field of curriculum development and management of higher education, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hendrawan Soetanto, M.Rur.Sc.

“Several times in our meetings, we mentioned that sometimes students said that they could not accept the material well. So, this is the right time for us to reflect on whether what we have done so far is right or not,” said the Head of Department Ir. Oyong Novareza, ST., MT., Ph.D when opening the activity.

ti1In his presentation Hendrawan conveyed the concept of Micro Teaching on how to teach interestingly.  In the middle of the presentation, Hendrawan invited the lecturers to share interesting learning experiences as well as obstacles during teaching.

“From the sharing of experiences, it can be drawn to a conclusion that interesting learning experiences require the active participation of students. There must be a two-way interaction between lecturers and students,” said the lecturer who is also an expert in developing character education.

ti2Hendrawan also mentioned that the world of work currently involves 5 generations with different characters. Took one example,  the Generation Z is very familiar with “online things” in their daily activities.

“Generation Z claims that technology helps them learn. This of course can be a consideration in learning strategies,” he said. (and)
