A Lecturer Of The Built Environment Architecture Master Program Conducted Sabbatical Leave At The University Of Sydney, Australia

Lecturer of Master Program in Built Environment Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT UB) Ir. Jenny Ernawati, MSP., Ph.D., CIQaR participated in the 2024 Sabbatical Leave Program held at the University of Sydney Australia on (11/7-11/8/2024). Sabbatical Leave is UB’s program for permission to leave campus in order to establish cooperation with institutions abroad.

“This activity aims to support the achievement of improving UB’s Main Performance Indicators, especially in the Master Program in Environmental Architecture,” said Jenny.

In this activity, Jenny conducted a joint publication with Professor Duanfang Lu, B.Arch., Ph.D. from the School of Architecture, Design and Planning, the University of Sydney, Australia.

This activity is one of UB’s internationalization efforts to collaborate with universities ranked in the QS 100 world rankings.

The University of Sydney was chosen as a collaboration partner because it is ranked 19th in the world by QS for Architecture and Built Environment and 27th in the world by QS for the School of Architecture, Design and Planning.

Professor Duanfang Lu, as a collaboration partner from the University of Sydney, is a professor of architecture and urbanism who has published various books internationally from leading publishers such as Routledge and Taylor & Francis, as well as in reputable international journals, so that his work is widely cited.

He is ranked as the 12th most cited architectural researcher in the world for the period 1996–2022 and is included in the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% scientist list.

“This Sabbatical Leave Program activity provides many benefits for the lecturers involved, especially in improving the quality of their publications, increasing the number of citations, and building collaborations to expand professional networks at the international level, improving the reputation of the university, and increasing the knowledge of lecturers that is useful for the future, both for themselves and for the Built Environment Architecture Study Program, and Universitas Brawijaya in general,” he said.

Jenny Ernawati mengunjungi Konsulat Jenderal Indonesia di Sydney dan bertemu dengan Bapak Theophillus Waluyo, Konsul Bidang Pendidikan dan Sosial Budaya.

Jenny Ernawati visited the Consulate General of Indonesia in Sydney and met Mr. Theophillus Waluyo, a consul for education and social and cultural affairs.

In this collaborative project, Ir. Jenny Ernawati, MSP., Ph.D., and Professor Duanfang Lu targeted to publish two joint works in reputable journals with high impact factors. Therefore, both parties agreed that this collaboration would continue even though the Sabbatical Program had ended.

Professor Duanfang Lu hopes that this kind of collaboration program can continue next year. On this occasion, the partnership also resulted in an Implementation Agreement between the School of Architecture, Design, and Planning at the University of Sydney and the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya.

While in Sydney, Jenny Ernawati also visited the Indonesian Consulate General in Maroubra to establish communication and discuss her activities in Sydney. During her visit, Jenny met with Theophillus Waluyo, a consulate for education and social and cultural affairs. (JEN/OKY/UB Public Relations).
