KKM XLII D-2: Plant 1,700 Trees in Dalisodo Village

The second day of the 42nd Student Work Camp (KKM) in Dalisodo Village, Kec. Wagir, Kab. Malang, new students (freshmen) together with leaders and representatives of institutions work together to plant 1,700 trees, Tuesday (21/Jan/2020).

Seedlings were obtained from the support of Perum Jasa Tirta 1 (PJT) of 1,200 trees and Perum Perhutani of 500 trees.

“Actually there will be only 1,000 seedlings from PJT, but last Monday they (PJT, red.) sent an additional 200 seedlings, 20 bags of manure, and 300 bamboo stakes,” said Vice Dean for Student Affairs, DrEng. Ir Denny Widhiyanuriyawan ST MT when met before the implementation reforestation.

The types of tree seedlings that will be planted are perennials and productive plants, such as mahogany, jackfruit, soursop, durian, avocado, mangosteen, duku, water guava, mountain fir, and others.

The Dean of FTUB, Prof. Dr. Ir Pitojo Tri Juwono, MT IPU in his remarks greatly appreciated the assistance given. He also conveyed the importance of greening in this region.

“Thank you for the assistance provided, hopefully it will bring various benefits to the community. This activity will greatly impact on conserving spring water and also be able to boost their economy,” said this water resources expert.

This was also agreed by Dr.Eng Denny when met after the activity. In addition to more sustainable forests, the community can also harvest fruit from productive plants so that a sense of care will emerge and they will help to preserve it.

Dalisodo village which has a height of about 950-1000 DPA still can have a good management in the distribution of clean water. Yet when examined, the available water is very clear and very suitable for consumption. This is also what drives the pipeline project, although the terrain is quite difficult, but Dr.Eng. Denny was sure that students, assisted by residents, could complete the project.

“Today there is also a pipeline project done, later for the settlement will be assisted by the residents,” said the former Head of the FTUB’s Research and Community Service (BPPM).

In addition to greening and piping, rehabilitation of drainage canals and public street lighting projects are also carried out. Dhimas Kaukabi Dwiputra as the Chief Executive from the student element expressed his concern about the weather.

“We are just worried about the rain, especially for pipeline, because the terrain to get there is quite far and difficult, so we have to be more careful. At this hour (around 12.00, ed.) it is already cloudy like this, hopefully the weather will support so that this year’s projects can run smoothly,” hoped this 2017 Mechanical Engineering student when met at the location.

For information, this 42-year service that has been a tradition of FTUB will take place in Dalisodo Village, Wagir District, Malang Regency, for 4 days, 20-23 January 2020. Male students will work more on projects in the field, while female students will carry out various counseling, teaching activities at school, and other social activities. (mic)
