3in1 WRE UB: Creating Sustainable Management of Coastal and Rivers Area

Water Resources Engineering (WRE), Faculty of Engineering Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) has a long history in water education, always paying attention to and contributing to the development of Indonesia’s coast. Through the 3in1 program, WRE FTUB held an international Webinar which was held on 24 October 2020.

Still on the coastal theme, this year’s Webinar is on Living with Uncertainty, Sustainable Coastal Area and River Basin Management in Indonesia: Past, present, and future

This online event is called 3in1 because it brings together the world’s leading scientists, policymakers/regulators (Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing), and professional water managers (industry).

The three speakers who were invited to represent each category were:

  1. Ir. Jarot Widyoko, Sp.1 (Director General of Water Resources, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing of the Republic of Indonesia),
  2. Ir. Raymond Valiant Ruritan ST., MT. (President Director of Perum Jasa Tirta 1, a State-Owned Enterprise in the field of Water Resources Management)
  3. Prof. Dano Roelvink (Professor of Coastal Engineering and Port Development IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and Delft University of Technology, Netherlands).

Dr. Ir. Ussy Andawayanti, MS., as the Head of the Department hopes that with the perspectives of three different experts, WRE FTUB graduates can understand the state of Indonesia’s coast, current strategies, plans, and lessons from other countries, both developed and developing countries.

“Thus, we can have a holistic understanding and contribute to the development and management of Indonesia’s coasts as scholars,” she said. (humasft)
