The Mechanical Engineering Team, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB), succeeded in maintaining the tradition of winning the 2023 Energy Efficient Car Competition (Kompetisi Mobil Hemat Energi, KMHE). This year, through the Apatte Elang Energi Team, formerly Apatte62 Brawijaya, Mechanical Engineering succeeded in bringing 1st place in the Diesel Prototype and 3rd place for Urban Ethanol.

The Apatte Elang Energi team succeeded in eliminating 60 teams with 600 participants from 42 universities in Indonesia in the final round, which was held offline from 27 October to 3 November 2023 at the Ancol Carnaval Area.

To arrive at the final stage, there is a series of processes that the team goes through, starting from administrative selection, design reports, and virtual technical inspection videos.

In the final round, the Apatte Elang Energi Team passed the technical inspection session on October 30, 2023, at the Formula E Circuit, Ancol Area, Jakarta.

After passing the Technical Inspection, the Apatte Elang Energi Team also practiced before the race, which was held from 31 October to 2 November, and was ready to compete with other superior teams.

“Thank God, with six months of struggle, the Apatte Team managed to bring home two awards,” said Kunindro Wisnu Nugroho, one of the team managers.

Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Eng. Eko Siswanto, ST., MT. and Prof. Dr. Eng. Nurkholis Hamidi, ST., M.Eng., Apatte Elang Energi won 1st place in the Diesel Prototype category through the Nogososro car driven by Mohammad Zhafir Rachman with the highest result of 652.9 km/L.

In urban ethanol, Dhimas Efendi Kurniawan drove a Marsela car with the highest score of 289.72 km/L and managed to get 3rd place.

“Through this competition, students can highlight their innovative designs for fuel-efficient vehicles. Hopefully, the achievements that have been achieved will bring goodness to all of us, and we can improve them in next year’s competition,” hoped the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Ir. Purnami, ST MT.
