Krida FT, Hard Work and Cooperation in Reaching Goals

Quite different, the opening of Krida for the Freshmen (maba) in the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) was held at Samantha Krida (Sakri) UB. Around 1,250 new students of the 2019/2020 academic year were gathered together with all the officials, lecturers, education staff, and senior students on Saturday, September 14, 2019.

In his report, Dr.Eng. Ir. Denny Widhiyanuwiyawan as The Vice Dean for Student Affairs informed that Krida would be divided into eight activities; four are coordinated at the faculty level and four at the department level.

He deliberately gathered freshmen at Sakri UB to show the ability of senior students in the non-academic fields.

“We want to introduce, that the campus life introduction program is not only academic, but also includes non-academic,” he said.

He also added that in Krida, freshmen will also be introduced more about the tri dharma of higher education. First is education, which will be introduced to the lecture system that will be faced in each department. Second, research will be channeled through the Student Creativity Program (PKM).

Finally, Community Service, which will be the end of the campus life introduction program through Student Work Camps (KKM).

The Coordinator of the FTUB Student Executive Board, Hariono also left a message for new students to start setting targets. “Make this day as the beginning of your planning, compete in kindness!” this 2015 Electrical Engineering student said.

The same thing was conveyed by the Dean of FTUB before opening the activities that will run for 2 months. Prof. Dr. Ir. Pitojo Tri Juwono, MT in his remarks emphasized the importance of hard work, ethics, and cooperation.

“I am sure that in your adaptation time this month, there will be a smooth one, there will also be difficulties. But, the difficulties that you are experiencing do not dampen your enthusiasm to reach your goals. All can be learned with perseverance, hard work, and cooperation between new students and of course with seniors,” said Prof. Pitojo.

The Dean, who is also an expert on water resources, also advised the committee to carry out and control this activity with full responsibility so as to provide optimal and maximum benefits to freshmen.

“Carry it out with a sense of family, togetherness, and a sense of joy. Hopefully, with what we build with this togetherness, our steps to achieve goals that are colored by various successes feel light,” he concluded before opening the morning program until noon that day.

On that occasion, FTUB Student Affairs brought three successful FT alumni to share their experiences during college so they could achieve success.

The three presenters were Sahirwan (Chair of IKA Architecture/Arsi’85), Markis Yudiawan (Chair of IKA Electrical Engineering/TE’90), and Firman (Chair of IKA PWK/PWK’99). The three of them gave motivation and at the same time shared their experiences in accordance with the opening theme of Krida this time, “Hard Work to Achieve Success and Dreams”. (mic)
