TGK Brawijaya Team Won the 3rd Overall Champion in the 2019 Indonesian Electric Car Competition

The TGK Brawijaya Team won the 3rd place in the 2019 Indonesian Electric Car Competition (KMLI). This annual competition was organized by Kemenristekdikti in collaboration with the host this year, the Bandung State Polytechnic on 14-16 November 2019.

The team that focuses on Go Kart & Electric Vehicle follows several categories including; Acceleration test, Braking test, Gradeability test, Slalom test, and Parking test.

With the guidance of Ir. Ari Wahjudi, MT, TGK Brawijaya Team won 1st place in the parking category, 3rd place in the acceleration category, and 3rd place in the slalom category.

The team which is under the auspices of the Mechanical Engineering Student Association (HMM) consists of 17 Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering students who are divided into 2 teams namely a technical team and a non-technical team.

In their second year the team relied on the Nogo Naresworo Mk.2 which is a 2nd generation car after the nogo naresworo Mk.1 car.

Rizky Adi Prasetyo as manager of the non-technical team explained, the name Nogo Naresworo was taken from the Majapahit Kingdom in the form of the Pataka Nagari Spear as an embodiment of the Twin Dragons guarding Tirta Amertha, made of copper. The Pataka spear was first put on the flag of the Kingdom of Wilwatikta (Majapahit) when it was proclaimed in the forest of the Date Forest. The flag is named Gula – Kelapa (Red – White), which is now inherited as the Red and White Flag.

In preparation for this competition, Rizky revealed that preparations had been made from November last year. Meanwhile, the manufacture of the car since August 25, 2019. This car uses a Li-fePo4 battery, 5 point seatbelt, 2 piston brake caliper, Quick realize steering wheel, 2 x 1000W BLDC Electric Motor, KBL Kelly Controller, Aerodinamic Body, Front independent suspension, and Rear link suspension.

“The advantage of this car is that the battery is capable of releasing 5 times of continuous current and has a longer lifecycle than a li-ion battery. With 5 point seatbelt the car is safer,” Rizqi said.

He continued, with the 2 piston brake caliper, the car is able to grip the disc discs better when braking. Quick release steering wheel makes it easy for drivers to get out of the car when an incident occurs. 2 x 1000W BLDC Hub Electric Motor has good efficiency and large torque.

The KBL Kelly Controller has a boost feature to draw large currents in a short amount of time. Having an Aerodynamic Body for this car can reduce air resistance so that the car’s speed is not hampered. Front independent suspension is used so that each tire can move freely so that it can adapt easily on even uneven roads. And finally the rear link suspension makes the car has many adjustable variables, lighter and more stable.

“From the results obtained, we have had enough. But we continue to pursue the overall champion in KMLI next year. Then, in April 2020 we also still want to improve the quality of the team by participating in the FRC IIMS 2020 event. Hopefully, we can participate in the Formula Society of Aotomotive Engineers in Japan, which may be held in August 2020,” concluded the 7th semester student. (HumasFTUB)
