Culture is Our Legacy, Culture Unites the Nation

Technology, a challenge and also an opportunity. A challenge to maintain the identity and the opportunity to fly higher. An extraordinary life, turning dreams into reality.

Technology is certainly not without consequences that must be paid. WHO noted that 800 children/year commit suicide because of the poor effects of the uncontrolled technology, this could be because of the unbalanced social life and social media.

That is why I invite my fellow young generation to return to our roots, explore the national identity, as well as technology wise to proclaim the beauty of the nation to the world.

Culture is our legacy, and culture unites the nation.

This speech led Nurrohman Adi Assajjad, a 2018 Water REsources Engineering student to become the Putra Kebudayaan East Java 2020.

This Mojokerto origin student told about his journey joining this competition. Nur attended the Putra Putri Jawa Timur 2020 event on December 8, 2019 in Surabaya. Out of hundreds of registrants, 24 finalists were selected to be quarantined in Jember on January 22-25, 2020,

“The auditions were held in three places, Banyuwangi, Jember, and Surabaya. I joined the one in Surabaya and all the finalists except for the six who resigned were quarantined in Jember,” said the first son of the Suciati and Supriadi couple.

In the preliminary round, all finalists were asked to show their talents and modeling skill. With his self-defense hobby, he displayed his taekwondo skills and made it into the 3 best talent categories.

“Thank God, I was chosen, because I never join a club in taekwondo, just study it by myself,” this eldest of two siblings revealed.

During the grand final held on January 25th, he raised the theme of technology for the younger generation. This is what made him into the Top 5 and had the opportunity to do QnA and entitled Putera Kebudayaan Jawa Timur 2020.

“InshaaAllah I will represent East Java at the National event next October,” he said.

Following this event has indeed Nurrohman’s passion. He aspires to become a star (actor) that is useful for others. By winning this event he wanted to show that people’s success does not depend on their GPA/academic values, everyone has the right to choose their own way.

“It depends on how they live their life, but still, God decides,” he concluded when interviewed this afternoon (31/Jan/2020). (mic)
