KKM, Asset to Serve The Nation More

Community service activities, the tradition of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT-UB) known as Student Work Camp (KKM) XLII has been successfully carried out on 20-23 January 2020. Nine projects that were launched could also be carried out despite the less favorable weather.

Projects carried out at the XLII KKM include cleaning of drainage channels in 300 m of residential areas, installing 15 units of street lights using solar cells in dark spots in the village.

Reforestation which is planned to only plant 100 trees, by cooperating with Perum Jasa Tirta 1 and Perum Perhutani, it can reach 1,700 trees. In addition, participants also revitalized the park in the Coban Glotak tourism park area, making tourist point maps, and making hamlet names.

Facilitating community access to clean water, a pipeline program was also implemented. Participants and the committee assisted by local residents installed 100 pipes of 3 dim diameter.

Likewise, community service by female students consisting of socialization on sorting and waste management, teaching in nearby elementary schools, and online marketing of processed products has been carried out entirely.

Gathered in the KKM XLII ceremonial field, the second group of participants attended the Closing Ceremony before returned to campus. Present at the closing ceremony that cloudy  morning were Faculty and Department Leaders, supervising lecturers, Head of Dalisodo Village, Wagir Sub-District Representative, KTU along with their staffs, all education staff, and Student Executive Body  Coordinator.

“UB Engineering Students make a very large contribution to the village. This activity spurred the spirit of the village officials to be more skillful in implementing our work program,” said Suprapto as the Head of Dalidoso Village.

Vice Dean for Student Affairs FT-UB Dr.Eng. Denny Widhiyanuriyawan ST., MT., as the person in charge of this activitiy, expressed gratitude for the success of the event which has become a tradition of FT-UB residents.

“Alhamdulillah, the 42nd KKM can run smoothly. Thank you to all those who have helped to make this event a success. For my students, rest assured that what has been done for 4 days can be aa asset to be more devoted to this country. Thank you for giving pride to the faculty of engineering,” said the Vice Dean who also excelled in the Reog art field.

After the formal closing of the KKM XLII, a look of excitement was on the faces of the participants. While waiting to be sent home, students, committees and lecturers mingled with each other and took a close photo together.

With the closure of the KKM XLII, the series of FTUB New Student Development Program (Probinmaba) for the class of 2019/2020 which lasted for 1 semester, ended. During this Probinmaba all FTUB freshmen introduced and trained to apply the Tri Dharma of Higher Education; Education through lectures, Research through Student Creativity Programs, and Community Service through KKM.
