200 Engineers From 7 Countries Discussing Technology Advancement in UB, Online

Joined by 7 countries and held virtually, the biannual conference entitled, The International Conference on Mechanical Engineering Research and Application (iCOMERA) 2020 officially starts today, Wednesday (7/Oct/2020).

The conference was opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) Ir. Ishardita Pambudi Tama, ST., MT., Ph.D., IPU.

In his welcoming speech, Ir Ishardita conveyed that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the conference which was planned to be held in Malang starting from 7-8 October 2020 was turned into an online conference.

However, this Industrial Engineering Manufacturing Management Expert continued, even in the midst of a pandemic, the papers submitted this year reached up to more than 220 papers.

“Involving seven countries, the paper collected is almost twice that of the first ICOMERA in 2018,” he said.

Countries that are involved in the collaboration conference of Mechanical Engineering FTUB with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia and National Sun Yat Sen University of Taiwan include Italy, Taiwan, Malaysia, Japan, the Netherlands, England, Austria, and Indonesia.

“We hope this International Conference on Mechanical Engineering can become a forum for discussion for participants to produce innovative solutions for society and open the widest possible international collaboration opportunities,” said the alumni of the University of New South Wales closing his remarks.

The three keynote speakers who were invited to share their latest research and reports are Prof. Shahruddin bin Mahzan from Malaysia, Dr. Marco Talice from Italy, and Prof. Chi Cheng Cheng from Taiwan. Apart from the three keynotes, also invited distinguished speaker Dr. Dominico Lahaye from TU Delft Netherlands.

The theme of this 2nd ICOMERA is Innovative Research in Engineering for The 21st Century which is very relevant to the current unprecedented and challenging situations.

Various papers were collected on various topics such as energy conservation, metallurgy, manufacturing, industrial systems, and so on.

On the same occasion the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, FTUB, Ir. Djarot Bangun Darmadi, Ph.D expressed his appreciation to the committee.

“We got information that the iCOMERA conference is becoming popular in the engineering community. I believe this is the result of the good service provided at the previous 2018 iCOMERA by the organizing committee,” said this welding technology expert.

He hopes that all the hard work that has been done can be continued to make the iCOMERA conference series sustainable and make it a recognized event on the agenda of international engineering conferences. (mic/Meg)
