Still in commemoration of the 8th Lustrum, the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) is holding an international conference on Thursday, September 7, 2023.

The conference entitled The 2023 Brawijaya International Conference on Architecture and Urbanism (BICARA 2023) was held at the Prof. Ir. Suryono Auditorium, 2nd floor of the FTUB Building.

This activity was opened by the Dean of FTUB, who was represented by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr.Eng. Ir. Indradi Wijatmiko, S.T., M.Eng. (Prac).

Representing the Dean, Dr. Indradi appreciated the entire team involved in this activity. He hopes that this conference will become a forum for collaboration and cooperation for all participants, both nationally and internationally.

“This conference will enable productive dialogue to be built between participants from different backgrounds. BICARA 2023 also provides an opportunity to build useful networks between institutions that will bring prosperity to Indonesian society and humanity in general,” explained Dr. Indradi before opening the event.

With the theme Resilience and Togetherness in Architecture, this activity invited four Keynote Speakers. The first session was hosted by Ar. Ir. Heru Sufianto, M.Arch.St., Ph.D., presented as the first two Keynote Speaker, Prof. Dr. A. Ghafar Ahmad, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Universiti Sains Malaysia) and Adnya Punia Sarasmita, Ph.D. (The Urban Collaborative, Oregon, USA).

In the second session, Prof. Baojie He, M.Eng., Ph.D. from Chongqing University China and Dr. Ir. Ema Yunita Titisari, ST., MT. from Universitas Brawijaya Indonesia, were appointed as the second two Keynote Speakers with Andika Citraningrum, ST, MT, MSc., as moderator.

After the break, the activity continued with parallel sessions with around 30 presenters from 5 countries and was closed by the Head of the Architecture Department, Dr. Ir. Lisa Dwi Wulandari, ST., MT., CIQaR., CIQnR., CIMMR.

The chairman of the BICARA 2023 committee, Dr.techn. Ir. Yusfan Adeputera Yusran, ST., MT.Ars., IPU., ASEAN Eng hopes that this activity can be held every two years to increase the IKU through publications from lecturers.

“Apart from lecturers, this conference is also a forum for students to present the results of their research,” said Dr.techn. Yusfan after the event.
