FTUB Establishes Research and Innovation Collaboration with BRIN

The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB), has agreed to collaborate on research and innovation with the Research Center for Sustainable Production Systems and Life Cycle Assessment of the Energy and Manufacturing Research Organization of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).

The signing process for the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room of the FTUB Building. The PKS is related to research and innovation in the field of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) Development in the Manufacturing, Services, and Banking Industries.

The signing of the PKS was carried out by the Dean of FTUB Prof. Ir. Hadi Suyono, ST., MT., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., and Head of the Research Center for Sustainable Production Systems and Life Cycle Assessment (PR SPBPDH) Nugroho Adi Sasongko, ST., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU.

In his speech, the Dean of FTUB, Prof. Hadi Suyono conveyed the potential resources that FTUB has, including 9 departments with 21 study programs from bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, as well as engineering and architectural professions.

“We also have 278 lecturers, 30 of whom have the title of professor. Then we have approximately 7,000 students, of which 23 percent consist of postgraduate and professional students,” he explained.

This Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering also conveyed the potential of 65 laboratories, including field laboratories and test laboratories. The Dean hopes that in the future, cooperation between the two parties can be strengthened.

“Previously, with BRIN, we carried out research related to control systems on fast trains. Then, soon this year, research will be related to fuel storage and greenhouse building. Later, we can explore other collaboration possibilities,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of the Research Center for Sustainable Production Systems and Life Cycle Assessment (PR SPBPDH) Nugroho Adi Sasongko, Ph.D., explains the profile of BRIN, which consists of approximately 15,000 combined researchers from a number of national research agencies.

“We also have a BARISTA student program. We provide students who are completing their final assignments in semester 7 or 8 with UKT assistance and research costs,” he explained.

The researcher, who is also a lecturer at the Universitas Pertahanan, hopes that future collaboration will not only be limited to the fields of chemical engineering or industrial engineering but can be developed into other fields.

Also witnessing the PKS signing procession were all Vice Deans, Heads of Departments, expert staff of Vice Deans I and III within the FTUB environment, as well as the EITKSL Research Group Coordinator, Coordinator of Collaboration Services, and collaboration services staff within the BRIN environment.
