FTUB Guest Lecture presented Kyoto University Professor

Visiting Professor, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) invited Professor Nakayama Sumie from Kyoto University. Nakayama Sumie is scheduled to provide material at the Faculty, Department, and Work Unit levels from 14-21 September 2023.

Departments that have the opportunity to receive special lectures with Prof. Nakayama include the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Department of Industrial Engineering, and Department of Chemical Engineering.

In this week’s activities, Prof. Nakayama also had discussions with several work units such as the Curriculum Development Agency (BPK), Quality Assurance Group (GJM), and the Research and Community Service Agency (BPPM).

“We present Prof. Nakayama to provide insight into how to integrate energy issues into current teaching materials or curriculum and also research opportunities in the field of energy systems and net zero emissions,” explained Dr. ES. Widha Kusumaningdyah, ST., MT., as Chief Executive.

On the first day of the Public Lecture session, Prof. Nakayama spoke about the energy system that applies internationally, the future of energy, and the opportunity for net zero emissions.

On the second day, the Professor at the Graduate School of Management explained various technological developments to support net zero emissions, including carbon capture and storage.

And on the third day, Prof. Nakayama explained about the various businesses and industries involved in energy systems. On the third day, she collaborated with PT ELNUSA who explained about sharpness in decision making in a business.

“We want to increase Engineering Students’ awareness of energy and climate change issues,” concluded Widha.
