The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT UB) held a lively sports competition event to celebrate its 60th Anniversary. This event succeeded in bringing together various groups ranging from lecturers, education staff to students from various departments in the Faculty of Engineering in a spirit of brotherhood, healthy competition, and of course, enthusiastic sports.

This sports competition was held involving several quite popular sports, including table tennis, plastic football, volleyball and badminton. Some of the series of sports competitions were held in the yard of the UB FT Dean’s Office, starting from table tennis, mini football and plastic volleyball, while badminton was held at the UB Sport Center. All activities carried out from Monday (9/10/2023) to Thursday (12/10/2023) received a warm welcome from all staff and students of the Faculty of Engineering.

Before the activity began, a speech was delivered by the Dean of FT, Prof. Ir. Hadi Suyono, S.T., MT., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng. where he appreciated this positive competition. Apart from exercising which makes the body healthy, this activity can also strengthen brotherhood within the FT UB academic community.

“We are very happy and enthusiastic to see the enthusiasm of lecturers and education staff to take part in several sports competitions. This is a special moment where we can celebrate the sports achievements of lecturers, staff and students of FT UB and strengthen relationships between them. Hopefully activities like this will continue in the years to come.” explained Prof. Hadi.

Directions were also conveyed by the Deputy Dean for General Affairs, Finance and Human Resources, Ir. Ismu Rini Dwi Ari, M.T., Ph.D. who said that the competition activities to welcome this anniversary should be accompanied by joy and a spirit of competition.

Table Tennis

The table tennis branch caught the attention of participants and spectators on the first day of implementation, Monday (9/10/2023). Participants from various circles competed with high enthusiasm to win first place. The final result which came out as first place was won by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, in second place went to the Dean’s Team 2 and third place went to Water Engineering.

Mini Football

The mini football tournament brings together teams from various departments and study programs. One team consists of lecturers, education staff and student representatives. This football match brings together participants in healthy and passionate competition. The team that won first place came from Civil Engineering. Second place went to Chemical Engineering and third place went to Mechanical Engineering.

Plastic Volleyball

Volleyball matches are filled with competitive spirit. Volleyball players from various study programs compete with each other with enthusiasm and desire to win every game and become champions. These volleyball matches create thrilling moments where skill and teamwork are essential. The team from Mechanical Engineering got first place in this sport, while the team from Chemical Engineering got second place, and third place from Electrical Engineering.

Badminton

The sport of badminton presents fierce competition between the players. FT UB lecturers, staff and students showed off their skills and endurance in doubles and singles matches. After several tight matches, the Architect team finally won the championship, second place was obtained by Mechanical Engineering and third place was obtained

The lively sports competitions in the context of the Anniversary of the Faculty of Engineering, Brawijaya University are proof and an initiative to foster a competitive, collaborative and brotherly spirit among the academic community of the Faculty of Engineering, UB.
