FTUB Initiates Collaboration with East Java MSMEs and the Malang Cooperative & Trade Office

The Student Affairs, Alumni, and Entrepreneurship Affairs (Field III) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FTUB) is determined to increase entrepreneurial interest for FT students. On October 9, 2023, he brought in the Head of the  Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Malang City and the Head of the Department of Cooperatives, Industry and Trade (Diskopindag) Malang City.

Present on the second floor to open the afternoon’s activities was the Vice Dean for Field III FTUB, Dr.Eng. Ir. Herry Santosa, S.T., M.T., IPM. Also present in that afternoon activity East Java Kadin UMKM Imam Ab’doi, and Malang City Kadin Diskopindag Dr. Eko Sri Yuliadi, S.Sos., M.M.

WD III FTUB explained that one way to increase student creativity and innovation is to open up entrepreneurial opportunities on campus. This can be done by establishing partnerships between campuses and industry.

This partnership can open up opportunities for students to obtain resources, support, and financing to develop their businesses. Apart from that, partnerships can also provide opportunities for students to gain experience in working in the business world.

“By becoming an entrepreneur, students can gain experience and skills and expand their social networks,” said Herry.

This activity was then continued by inviting around 40 MSMEs to coordinate them in for FTUB’s 60th Anniversary on 11 October 2023.

These MSMEs will later join in enlivening the peak event of FTUB’s Anniversary on 22 October. Imam Abdo’i appreciated this collaboration.

“Alhamdulillah, we really support this activity, and I really appreciate it. We provide 40 mentors to MSMEs in the cities of Malang and Malang Raya who can provide knowledge about how products are made. Hopefully, in the future, it will be even better and provide more benefits to students so that students are ready to work, creating jobs, not looking for jobs,” he concluded.

At the peak of FTUB’s 60th Anniversary on October 22, 2023, a Cooperation Agreement will be signed between FTUB and the East Java UMKM Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Trade of Malang City. (mic)
