Celebrating its 60th Anniversary, the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT UB) also shared happiness with residents around campus by holding social service activities, especially for residents of RW 05, Ketawanggede Village, Lowokwaru District, Malang City. This social service activity was held Monday (23/10/2023) at RW 05 Hall.

Attended by the leaders of the FT UB dean and department, the chairman, and residents of RW 05. This activity aims to strengthen relations between the university and the surrounding community while assisting and supporting needy residents.

The Dean of FT UB delivered the speech, Prof. Ir. Hadi Suyono, S.T., MT., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng, where he said that this social service activity is routinely carried out yearly. He is also committed to helping and advancing the community around the FT UB campus.

“This social service activity is a form of our gratitude by sharing and providing support to the people around us. We want to ensure that our university is not only a place for education and research, but also a force that cares for society,” said Prof. Hadi.

The social assistance distributed through this activity includes giving cash to RW 05 treasury in the amount of Rp. 2,000,000, – (two million rupiah) and basic food packages for needy residents. This assistance was received directly by the chairman of RW 05, Mr. Iwan Setiawan, who was accompanied by several heads of RT 01, 02, and 03. He welcomed positively the activities from UB, especially from the Faculty of Engineering, who care about residents around campus who are in need. Apart from that, he thanked the academic community of FT UB and wished him the best for the progress of FT UB in the future.

In this event, there was warm interaction between the residents of RW 05 and representatives of FT UB. This moment strengthens the relationship between the university and the local community. Nor, Prof. Hadi also introduced the leadership who attended the social service activity to the residents of RW 05.

This social service activity illustrates the critical role of universities in helping solve social problems and making positive contributions to society. FT UB is committed to continuing to be involved in similar social activities to improve the welfare of the community around campus, not only this activity, in the future, there will be community service activities carried out by the FT UB academic community to advance the lives and needs of the community.[drn]
