Two FT UB Student Teams Win Gold Medals at the 2023 World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA)

Two teams of students from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT UB), achieved brilliant achievements in this event. With innovation and work, both teams won gold medals, bringing the name of FT UB to the international level.

The Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA) is again holding an annual offline competition event, the World Youth Invention and Innovation Award (WYIIA), in Yogyakarta. 94 teams took part in the WYIIA 2023 competition directly at Bachelorwiyata Tamansiswa University, Yogyakarta. This competition allows young innovators to showcase their brilliant ideas and compete internationally.

The two teams from FT UB came from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (TM), where the first team consisted of Sa Bashkaran Adi Warman (TM’21), Janu Andrean (TM’20), Anggit Mardi Makarim (TM’20), Vesakha Kenneth (TM’20); and Try Satrio Pamungkas (TM’19) has the work title SugarSpy: Innovation In Early Detection of Diabetes Mellitus to Improve the Quality of Life Integrated Tools and Mobile Virtual Assistant with supervisor Prof. Dr. Ir. Femiana Gapsari, ST., MT.

Meanwhile, the second team consists of Sa Bashkaran Adi Warman (TM’21), Jose Alfero (TM’21), Allwin Andreas (TM’21), Reyhan Ikhsan Mulyono (TM’21), and Khaviv Wahid Rafli (TM’22) with the title Pawsitive Heath: Leveraging Innovative Mobile App Solutions to Enhance Veterinary Care and Mitigate Animal Mortality Rates with supervisor Ir. Redi Bintarto, ST., M.Eng.Pract.

Sa Bashkaran Adi Warman, as the representative of the two teams, expressed his gratitude for the achievements obtained, namely getting a gold medal.

“We feel delighted and honored for the countless efforts, from the initial idea to the final implementation, which led us to win the gold medal at World Youth Invention and Innovation. This experience has taught us how important perseverance and collaboration are in creating innovative solutions, like the Pawsitive Health mobile app we developed. Keep the name of Engineering proud by continuously exploring our creative and scientific potential!” he explained.

The achievements of these two teams of FT UB students are not only a source of pride for their university but also Indonesia as a whole. They have proven that a spirit of innovation and dedication to research can produce valuable and relevant solutions in an era of rapidly developing technology.
