Chemical Engineering Students of FT-UB Win Bronze Medal at MARSS#11 International Competition

Tim UB Juara 3 MARSS#11Chemical Engineering (Tekim) students from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Brawijaya (FT-UB), have once again achieved remarkable success at the international South East Asia Paper Competition MARSS#11 (MIPA Road to Scientific Paper and Seminar #11). This competition was organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, on May 10-11, 2024.

The UB team, represented by BEC2023, won the Bronze Medal in this prestigious competition. The team members include Putri Cahya Setya Maharani (FT), Fathurrahman Azhari (FILKOM), Yasmin Agustina Prabawati (FV), and Razzaqi Hatmawira R. R. (FAPET), with guidance from faculty advisors Ir. Luthfi Kurnia Dewi, S.T., M.T., and Ir. Aji Hendra Sarosa, S.T., M.T.

“We aim to educate the public on the potential and challenges of utilizing bio-oil from livestock manure in the renewable energy sector,” said Putri on behalf of the team.

This idea was developed into a scientific paper titled “Bio-Oil from Livestock Manure: A Perspective of Pyrolysis and Thermochemical Liquefaction as Viable Waste Valorization Methods That Provide Sustainable and Resilient Energy Source.”

The paper explores pyrolysis and thermochemical liquefaction methods as approaches that can add value to livestock manure, transforming it into a sustainable and resilient energy source.

This innovative idea received high praise from the judges and other participants in the competition.

The success of the UB team in winning the Bronze Medal at MARSS#11 not only adds to Universitas Brawijaya’s list of international achievements but also inspires other students to continue creating and innovating.

Support from the faculty advisors, along with the hard work and dedication of the students, were key factors in this achievement.

With this accomplishment, it is hoped that more creative and innovative ideas will emerge from Universitas Brawijaya students, especially in the field of renewable energy.

Additionally, participation in such competitions is expected to raise public awareness about the importance of utilizing livestock manure as an eco-friendly alternative energy source.
