To celebrate the 19th Anniversary of the Industrial Engineering Department at Universitas Brawijaya on June 23, 2024, the Capstone Design Expo was held to showcase the innovation and creativity of Industrial Engineering students.

This event is part of the Capstone Design Project, where students present their designs as simulation models or prototypes.

This semester, seven groups participated, exhibiting their products ranging from ergonomic chicken cutting stations, and energy-efficient room lighting devices, to safe and efficient evacuation routes.

Additionally, this Expo featured easy-to-use and multifunctional trash bins, as well as optimized water drainage systems for fish cleaning sections.

The theme for this semester’s Capstone Design Expo was “Exploring the Blast of Capstone Design,” with case studies focused on markets in Malang City.

Among the seven participating groups, several received awards in categories such as Best Content on Instagram, Best Stand, and Best Innovation.

The group that won the Best Innovation award was Group 6 with their “Light Pipe Design for Pasar Besar Malang” project.

Meanwhile, the Best Content on Instagram and Best Stand awards were given to Group 4 for their “Ergonomic Chicken Cutting Table Design to Enhance Transaction Comfort” and Group 5 for their “Evacuation Route Design, Evaluation Display, and Assembly Point at Pasar Besar Malang” projects, respectively.

At the Capstone Design Expo, students not only showcased their work but also presented the creative process and critical thinking behind each innovation.

The interactions and discussions among students, faculty, stakeholders, and visitors opened up opportunities for collaboration and the development of new ideas beneficial to the community.

The Expo is expected to embody the commitment of the Industrial Engineering Department at Universitas Brawijaya in nurturing innovative, creative, and solution-oriented young professionals who contribute to solving societal problems.

This Expo also serves as a platform for students to apply the theories learned in class to real-world projects.

Through presentations and discussions, students learn to defend their ideas, receive feedback, and reassess their designs based on the input received.

This process not only enhances their technical skills but also their communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.

With the Capstone Design Expo, Universitas Brawijaya aims to continuously motivate students to innovate and create, while strengthening the relationship between academia, industry, and the community.

This event is tangible proof that Industrial Engineering students can create practical and applicable solutions, positively impacting their surroundings and preparing themselves for future challenges.
